Christopher and Renee DiBraccio took over Brixie’s eight years ago and since then have changed the saloon, that has been in Renee’s family since 1934, into a bar and grill which offers great hard to get quality beers, and homemade food. Chris is a member of the chamber for the last two years, and newly appointed as a director and head of the Pig Roast committee. Brixie’s has made a lot of changes in the past eight years and enjoys serving the Brookfield and surrounding communities

How long has the bar been in your wife’s family?

This will be the 76th year, starting with my wife’s grandparents, her parents, and now us, the third generation to run the establishment.

What are the biggest changes you made when taking over the place?

Definitely the beer selection and bringing back the food.

What have you seen in your industry since you have been running Brixie’s?

The trend is quality over quantity. People are opting to try 2 or 3 different quality beverages instead of downing five or six commercial beverages.

Why the need to reopen the kitchen?

In today’s economy and in this industry it made sense to offer food.

What to say to people that say they knew Brixie’s back in the day?

I tell them I am glad you enjoyed it back then, but like anything or anyone it has changed with the times, the thing that hasn’t changed is the name. They should check it out now, I think they would really be pleasantly surprised.

Do you offer entertainment?

Yes we offer live music every Saturday night and some Fridays. The music ranging from jazz to rock.

What is your reason for joining the chamber?

Mostly to make Brookfield residents, and the residents surrounding Brookfield to realize there is great entertainment and Businesses in Brookfield worth spending their money in.
